Volunteering your time at Soft Centre is one of the main contributing factors that enables us to grow and provide the best experience to our audience we possibly can. You can be part of the action by contributing 4-6 hours of your time.

What we ask of you ? 

1) Complete the below application

2) Wait to be contacted by our volunteer team to confirm if your application is successful.

3) If successful please complete the Volunteer Agreement, which will be emailed to you to secure your position in the nominated timeframe.

4) Your allocated roles and shift times will be made available to you soon after confirmation.

5) Turn up to your allocated shifts on time and be fit to work.

7) Failure to meet the Volunteer Agreement incurs consequences as per the agreement.

Roles Available

Bump In: Help out the week before assisting some of our resident artists with their installations and help us set the scene. We will need some help with packing down the installations after the event

Bump Out: Helping with the pack down after the event

Ticketing: scanning and wristbanding, assisting arrival process, bus marshalling

Stage Assistant: helping out with performer setups & changeovers, assisting with production needs (production experience is beneficial but not necessary)

Merchandise: Assisting with the sale of artists goodies + SOFT CENTRE merch.


Artist Liaison Assistant:
Helping out with artist & performer experiences from when they arrive to when they leave.

Art Invigilator: Assisting with the flow of art installations and performances on the day.

Sustainability: Assist with our sustainability program to help keep Soft Centre environmentally friendly.

How many hours do I volunteer for?

Either 4 hours if you are volunteering on the day of the event or 6 hours if you are volunteering on the bump-in or bump-out.


How do I become a volunteer?

When do I get my volunteer ticket?


Once you’ve been confirmed and submitted your Volunteer Agreement, then you are locked in as a Soft Centre Volunteer. You will receive a festival ticket via email, specific to volunteering.


When do I find out if I’ve been accepted?

Applications will stay open until all positions are filled. Confirmations will start from the 19th of August. 


What time do I need to be at my shift and where do I go?

Please allow plenty of time to arrive. You are expected to sign in for your shift 1 hour before it commences. If you are volunteering during bump-in or bump-out we will meet at the entrance of the venue at 10am. If you are volunteering on the event day you will be directed where to go once your ticket is scanned at the entry.


Do I get fed?

If you are working on the bump in or bump out team you will be fed. If you are volunteering during the event day you will not be fed, however there will be food options available for purchase.


Is there a uniform?

We ask that you wear closed two shoes. If you are working as a stage assistant we ask that you wear black.


I’ve already bought a ticket but want to volunteer, can I receive a refund?

Once you have been confirmed and you’ve submitted your Volunteer Agreement then yes we will issue you with a refund for your originally purchased ticket.
